NANDOS:

Before my diagnosis, Nandos was one of my favourite restaurants to eat at and I can safely say that it has stayed up there, with one of my go to restaurants.

Since being a coeliac, I have eaten at Nandos many times. The system that they use for allergies is brilliant. Nandos have their allergen lists online, so you can view these before you arrive, but they also offer this to you when you are seated. This allows you to see the ingredients used in the items and you can choose what you like.

The manager takes your order, to ensure that the kitchen are aware of your allergy. On your receipt you can see this has gone through as an allergen order, which is very comforting to see they are taking it seriously.

This is when you stand out!! Nandos are known for their flags in the food stating the spice level. We get a blue flag stating "Allergy". This makes it clear that there has been no mistakes in the kitchen and that you are receiving the correct food.

As a very sensitive coeliac, with very strong symptoms, I can detect if I've eaten gluten or even if my food has been cross-contaminated in the kitchen! Nandos are very good at ensuring this doesn't happen.

My order is:

Halloumi sticks and chilli jam

Medium Butterfly chicken and chips

Refillable drink

I have visited and would recommend, Norwich and Leicester branches, but they do all follow a similair process.

Just check the allergen list before you go, so you know what is gluten free!!!

Hope this helps :)
